Matlock doesn't run a lot of junk I_D. Basically runs the veer with some spread formations as well. I played against Matlock in HS. Nice guy and doing a good job at his alma mater.

Have to agree with ya here...the 89 Appy Dawgs, the 88 Jonesville Dawgs (not LPD I know, but underdog none the less), and every PV championship team from the 80's (82, 85, 89) were all not favored to win. That's why they play the game.
Lord I can't even begin to think about the finals because neither team is there yet. You're dealing with good teams at this point of the year, teams that have won and are obviously capable of winning. Can you sometimes see that Team A is better than Team B? Absolutely but you're not picking Norton playing Ervinton here, it involves good teams that have battled and made it out of a region. Preliminary opinion, I'll pick Clintwood over Holston but it's not that Clintwood can just expect it and not show up. We seen Saturday that what you think you know, you might now know. You had people expecting blowouts both ways, but what you had was a good, close football game. The first time the teams faced, Clintwood ran harder, Norton didn't tackle that well, and Clintwood did. This time Norton ran harder, Clintwood didn't tackle well and Norton did. When you're dealing with good teams, and Holston has earned that right with their performance last year and then more so this year, they know how to play and they know how to find and exploit things.
I'll pick Clintwood but right now, I'd go 2 scores. And hope that I'm right.
Holston has beaten 3 teams with winning records (Twin Springs, Bland, and Castlewood). They lost to Chilhowie and George Wythe. Their other 5 powerhouse opponents (St. Paul, John Battle, Northwood, Patrick Henry, and Rural Retreat) have a stellar combined record of 8-42...go figure. In the playoffs they've beaten Bath and East Montgomery...not much.
Anything can happen. Even what is thought to be impossible. Who would have reasonably thought that CW could beat the Raiders twice in one year yo?
Basically, everyone on here except those from Norton.

That was a joke. I was playing the part that we are sometimes accused of. That is believing that we always have the best team with the best players and that any defeat came by a miracle or we were robbed.
I'll go out on a limb here and predict CW to bring home the title.
Well I would certainly be proud if we came back State Champs. Needless to say I am already proud of our team. LPD Champs and Region D Champs and just a classy bunch of guys.
GO BIG GREEN!!!!!
William Campbel will be Clintwood and Nortons teams combined by 28.
